Tilsun Tests… The Infiniti M35h Saloon
Europe’s latest premium executive brand goes Eco-friendly with the introduction of the M35h Saloon.
At first glance, the M35h resembles exactly what you would expect from a vehicle in this market sector, a bold presence, striking curves and it imposes a sense of respect right from that very first moment.
What you don’t see or moreover, expect from the M35h is the sheer volume of technology contained within. Looking beyond the 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine that produces 306BHP there is a second motor, an electric motor as the M35h is a hybrid, this additional motor delivers another 68BHP and the way the Infiniti’s engineers have developed the drive system, all the power created by both motors is driven straight into the rear wheels, producing an impressive 350 Newton Meters of Torque.
Taking our technology tour inside the car we find numerous features including touch screen navigation, Bluetooth, voice control, surround sound, the list goes on and just because the M35h is “high-tech”, doesn’t mean that Infiniti have compromised the comfort of the vehicle. With leather upholstery and front heated seats complete with electronic movement and lumbar support, it’s like driving whilst sat in your armchair.
Ultimately, the staff members that got to experience the M35h first hand were very impressed with what it could do and what it contained, everyone commented on the styling, drive comfort and features, by comparison to the positives, there were far fewer negative comments. The only major concern was the fuel economy on long drives, which essentially is what GT models are designed for, so could be a stumbling point for the M35h in an otherwise very impressive debut.
Infiniti has been present in the North-American market for a few years now and the venture into Europe began in 2010, with an ever-expanding vehicle range, only time will tell if Nissan’s elegant sister company will be able to contend with the stalwart marquee manufacturers of Europe with a well entrenched fan base.
